We're currently putting the finishing touches on a new downloadable version of Thai2English, which will be available to purchase within the next couple of weeks. This is a massive upgrade from the current version, with every current feature improved and a lot of new ones added. A preview of the new features with screenshots and information on what it can do for you are shown below.
Two-way Thai < > English dictionary
The new version of the Thai > English dictionary contains 60,000 words, almost double that available on the thai2english website at present. We've also got a new 65,00 word English > Thai dictionary, for much improved searching in English.
Both the English > Thai and Thai > English dictionaries have every Thai word also written in transliteration, so it's fully usable even if you can't read Thai script yet. In addition, you can mouseover any Thai definition of an English word to get more detail on its meaning, very useful for when you have a choice of possible translations and aren't sure which is the one you want.

We've over 200,000 example sentences all in both Thai and English, meaning the great majority of words in the dictionary have useful example sentences to look at and many have dozens to browse through. Although each Thai sentence has an English translation, you can also mouseover each word to see its meaning individually.

Search by transliteration
With transliteration search, you can find Thai words by just typing how they sound without needing to be able to type in Thai. You don't need to follow any particular transliteration scheme either, so just spelling the word according to how it sounds will be enough to find it.

Automatic transliteration and assisted translation
The translation system has been improved so it's no longer just word-for-word, but can recognise hundreds of different words and phrases where word-for-word translation can be misleading or where Thai word order is different from English.

Typing in Thai
A new feature in the downloadable version of Thai2English is a utility that lets you type in Thai by converting transliteration to Thai script. No Thai keyboard needed, no need to follow any particular transliteration scheme, and it's almost as fast and easy as typing in English. With the integrated dictionary lookup that tells you the meaning of the Thai script words as you're typing, it's not even necessary to be able to read Thai to be able to use it!
Although some transliterations can match many possible Thai words, it works by using the context of the surrounding words to figure out the most likely possibilities.

Articles
Over a hundred pages of articles on aspects of the Thai language including grammar, pronunciation, useful reference lists, the alphabet and with a complete step-by-step guide on how to read Thai script, no previous knowledge necessary.
